Millennium Vee Taichung

It is finally spring and Mumtraveller is on the go. This time, Mumtraveller had picked to stay in Taichung where if you are following on the blog, you will know that this is my favourite city to spend a day or two before heading southern part of the island.

Millennium Vee Taichung is the first global hotel in Taichung and only had its grand opening in 2013 March. Mumtraveller is always keen to try out on new hotel and to experience what this global hotel can offer.

Millennium Vee Taichung

Millennium Vee Taichung located in Shih-Jen centre where is near the Taichung City Hall and also the newly opened Metropolitan Opera house to explore. Booked the Deluxe room and even with baby cot in the room, my boy still has the space to run around. Personally, this is my favourite baby cot as it is really new and also in big size and with Peter Rabbit’s bedding, regardless pink is the main color.

The bathroom is separated into 3 parts, where there are a shower area, the toilet bowl and the bath tub.

I was quite relieved with the good service they provided.  I made a complaint on the smell of cigarette in the original room which we were checked-in and they changed for us without any hesitation.

The breakfast buffet offers a complete spread of western and eastern style. It even offers lobsters porridge which is really a luxury dish to dig in for your morning hours.

Millennium Vee Taichung did leave a good impression for the first stay experience and if you are looking for a special treat, this will be a great choice in Taichung.

La Vida Hotel

If you only have a limited time to get a taste of Taiwan, mumtraveller will recommend to head straight to the night market in the area you are in. That is also the place mumtraveller will not miss whenever I have visitors in town.

FengChia Night Market is the biggest night market for central Taiwan and to have the full access, we have decided to book the hotel nearby, La Vida Hotel which was just opened in 2015/April.

The best thing about staying near night market is that you will never be familiar with “hungry” terms anymore and you can always pick up your shopping whenever you are ready to go again.

La Vida Hotel

The hotel itself is a newly built building and a very nice lobby to laze around when waiting for check-in our check-out. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the free-flow of coffee, tea and biscuits.

We had been arranged with the room of facing internal collidors, which was surprising perfect for me as it is proved to be quieter than those rooms by the main road.

The bed is soft and big enough to have our boy to sleep in between us and they even provided the bedrail.

The bathroom comes in good size and even equipped with the bath tub and even has a TV screen for you to enjoy.

Breakfast is served at the basement with a good selection of bread and you can order for Ramen freshly cooked per bowl whenever you need it.

Overall, La Vida Hotel is really a high CP value hotel and highly recommended for Feng Jia night market exploration trip.

Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Tainan

Tainan here I come!

We are going down to the southern part of Taiwan and this time is Tainan City. (Tainan City, the oldest city of Taiwan.)

Being the oldest city in Taiwan, the whole city is packed with historical buildings and temples with some more than 200 years old.

Mumtraveller was geared up to explore the city which undoubtedly rooted many dishes of Taiwan and of course to stay comfortably had picked Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel.

Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tainan

Being a five-star hotel, there is no doubt on the facilities the hotel provided. There is free wifi connection, complimentary parking for hotel guests and free access to the health club with gym and outdoor swimming pool, which is great for kids.

We were so lucky this time to be upgraded to deluxe family room with 2 queen beds and a panoramic view of Tainan city. I really like the size of the room as the space is big enough to let the baby crawled around but still within our watchable distance.

To delight the whole experience, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tainan took the extra effort to celebrate my 3rd anniversary with a complimentary chocolate cake from The Shop, which was extremely delicious.

There is also an authentic Chinese restaurant on the 38th floor which served Huaiyang cruisine as well as local Taiwanese and Cantonese delicacies. Mumtraveller did not have the chance to try this time and will definitely plan for a next trip soon.

Tips to travel with kids

Mumtraveller always travel light and the tip to do that will always call the hotel to prepare on the baby cot, baby bath tub and some hotels even provided bottle sanitizers.

And in this case, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tainan has everything taken care of.

So do make sure you remember to ask the hotel what they can provide in advance and your luggage will have ample of space to fit an extra sexy dress and shoes for special dinner with hubby.

The best part of the hotel is actually in the location itself. Centrally located in the middle of downtown Tainan, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tainan, gives you easy access to shopping centre and also historical sites.

It is also just 5 minutes walk from the train station and the famous National Cheng Kung University (NCKU).

You can just sneak out for a break and have a shopping spree while you left the kids with your husband by the pool.

And to make up for the family time, NCKU is just a few steps away and you can just take the kids to the big greenery field safe for hem to run around or even play soccer.

Overall, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tainan will be my number 1 choice of hotel to stay in Tainan city for sure.

It's summer !

IMG_20150811_215335

It’s summer time where is better to bring your kid to the beach, of course!

Taiwan is actually surrounded by sea and we have many beautiful coastal areas from the northern part to the southern tip of the island. Kenting is famous for its beautiful white sand beach in Pingtung county, southern end of the island.

World-renown beach

In 2013, Kenting Guanshan had been chosen by CNN as one of the 12 superb sunset spots around the world.

So mumtraveller will never miss a chance to bring my 16- month son to enjoy the sun, the beach and the HOTEL.

Kenting Caesar Park Hotel is a famous five star hotel and also in the Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts Alliance, a testimony to the Hotel’s world-class facilities and service.

Located on the Hengchun Peninsula at the southern tip of Taiwan, immediately adjacent to Kenting National Park, and a walk able distance to the main Kenting street where all the restaurants and shops are.

When I step in the Kenting Caesar Park Hotel

From the moment you stepped in Kenting Caesar Park Hotel, you were embraced by the tropical atmosphere. There are different choices of rooms and my personal recommendation will be Jacuzzi Guest room as you will have your own private garden and a Jacuzzi.

This is just perfect for family with kids as you can just let your children be in the pool as long as they want; of course with you around relaxing in your private garden and a cold beer.

Everything in house

Kenting Caesar Park Hotel has ample of facilities such as outdoor swimming pool, seashore footpath to connect straight to Hsiaowan beach, indoor facilities for children’s as well as adults to keep the whole family filled with activities during your stay.

For those who prefer the sun, outdoor swimming pool is great with a big pool which is divided into different sections from shallow to deep pool of 3M with diving board for older kids and even adults.

Private Beach and Indoor Facilities

Also Hsiaowan beach is just a stone’s throw away, beach umbrellas and loungers are provided and also a beach bar.

Indoor facilities is equipped with gym, arcade games, ping pong table and also a big playground for small kids with slides, climbers, rock climbing wall(with instructors) and a lot of toys to get them engage in.

The hotel even take the effort to have some free activities for both adults and kids in the evening such as bingo game and arcade basketball shooting competition. If you just need time on your own, you can also let your kids join their Caesar Kid’s camp to keep them occupied while you relax by the pool or even enjoy the spa.

Hunger is out

I believed every mum will know a hungry kid is a cranky one.

No worry on these if you are staying in the hotel as hotel stays packages come with buffet breakfast and also a few other restaurant available to order food for the whole day.

And till late night if you still need supper, Kenting street has various selections of restaurant and also bars.

 Final grades

Overall, Kenting Caesar Park Hotel is highly recommended for family travelers. No matter if you are an outdoor goers, natural lovers or even indoor folks, you can find fitted activities in the hotel and just enjoy your own kind of holiday.
